Las Vegas and Nevada offer a dazzling mix of man-made wonders and natural beauty, making them perfect for any traveler. We experienced everything from luxurious resorts to breathtaking landscapes. Here's our detailed guide to some of the most iconic spots, peppered with tips and insights to help you plan your own adventure.
The Sphere: A Technological Marvel
The Sphere in Las Vegas is impossible to miss. Towering at 366 feet, this state-of-the-art venue is wrapped in the world’s largest LED screen, capable of displaying 16K visuals. While we didn’t go inside, its exterior displays were enough to keep us mesmerized. It shifts between themes—one night it’s a massive Earth, and the next, it’s a glowing eyeball or a basketball. Inside, it houses a 17,600-seat arena designed for concerts, immersive experiences, and beyond. Pro tip: Check their event calendar in advance, as tickets can sell out fast.
The Las Vegas Strip: An Electric Wonderland
The Strip is a sensory overload in the best way. Spanning over four miles, it’s lined with world-famous casinos, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Each property offers a unique theme: you can visit Paris, Venice, and ancient Rome all in one evening! Whether it’s catching the Bellagio Fountains’ dancing water show or exploring themed casinos like New York-New York, there’s always something happening.
💡 Insider Tip: The Strip comes alive after dark. Wear comfortable shoes—you’ll be doing a lot of walking! (And shopping!)
Caesars Palace: The Pinnacle of Opulence
Caesars Palace is an icon of luxury, and stepping inside felt like entering a Roman empire. The property boasts sprawling halls adorned with marble statues, high-end boutiques at The Forum Shops, and a buzzing casino floor. The Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis is a must-see, featuring multiple pools surrounded by lush greenery.
If you’re a foodie, Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and other top-tier restaurants call Caesars home. It’s also a hotspot for big-name concerts and events, so keep an eye on their calendar for must-see performances.
The Wynn Hotel: Luxurious Serenity
The Wynn was one of our favorite places to visit repeatedly during our trip. Known for its stunning architecture and award-winning design, it opened in 2005 and was named after casino mogul Steve Wynn. It’s one of the few Vegas resorts to offer abundant natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows.
The resort’s attention to detail blew us away, from its perfectly manicured gardens to its breathtaking Lake of Dreams show. Every evening, this spectacle combines water, lights, and music to create an otherworldly experience. If you’re into shopping, the Wynn Plaza features luxury brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
Red Rock Canyon: Nature’s Playground
Just a short 25-minute drive from the Strip, Red Rock Canyon is a stark contrast to the glitter of Las Vegas. This National Conservation Area features towering red sandstone formations and plenty of hiking trails for all skill levels. We drove the 13-mile scenic loop, stopping at several overlooks to take in the incredible views.
💡 Fun Fact: The area is also a popular spot for rock climbing, with cliffs that challenge even the most seasoned climbers. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, and sturdy shoes if you plan to explore the trails. Oh, and please don't get lost like we almost did!
RPM Las Vegas: A Dining Delight
RPM Italian at The Forum Shops in Caesars Palace was a culinary highlight of our trip. The modern ambiance set the tone for a perfect meal. Every dish was crafted to perfection, from the signature Mama DePandi’s Bucatini to the indulgent Tiramisu. Owned by celebrity couple Giuliana and Bill Rancic, the restaurant’s sleek design and impeccable service made it a memorable dining experience.
The Venetian Resort: Italy in the Desert
The Venetian is more than just a hotel; it’s an experience. Modeled after Venice, it features indoor canals complete with gondola rides, charming bridges, and a replica of St. Mark’s Square. Wandering through its cobblestone walkways and admiring the hand-painted ceilings felt like a mini trip to Europe.
Don’t miss the resort’s massive casino, which is one of the largest in the world, or its luxurious spa. The Venetian also hosts incredible shows like Atomic Saloon Show, a raunchy yet hilarious twist on traditional Vegas entertainment.
Area 15: A Futuristic Wonderland
Area 15 is where art, technology, and entertainment collide. This immersive entertainment hub is home to unique experiences like Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart, which takes you through a surreal alternate reality hidden behind an ordinary-looking supermarket.
Other attractions include VR gaming, art installations, live performances, and even an indoor zipline. There’s something here for everyone, making it a great stop for families, couples, or friends.
💡 Insider Tip: Parking and entry is free. Once inside, you can purchase an entertainment package to your liking or just look around at your own leisure.
Twilight Zone Mini Golf: Glow-in-the-Dark Fun
If you’re looking for quirky indoor fun, Twilight Zone Mini Golf inside Bally’s is a blast. This glow-in-the-dark mini golf course features 18 holes, each inspired by the Twilight Zone. With vibrant neon colors and whimsical obstacles, it’s a perfect break from the usual Vegas scene.
The Grand Canyon: Nature’s Masterpiece
The Grand Canyon’s West Rim is a 2.5-hour drive from Las Vegas and offers jaw-dropping views that pictures can’t do justice. We visited the Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that lets you walk out over the canyon—a thrilling experience! For those with more time, the South Rim is another option, known for its panoramic vistas and hiking trails.
Lake Mead & Hoover Dam: Engineering Meets Nature
Lake Mead, about 30 minutes from Vegas, is perfect for water activities like kayaking and paddleboarding. It’s also the largest reservoir in the U.S., formed by the Hoover Dam. Speaking of the dam, this engineering marvel has been providing power and water since the 1930s.
Those visiting can take a guided tour of the Hoover Dam and learned about its history and construction—a fascinating dive into the region’s development.
Bonanza Gift & Souvenir Shop: A Vegas Classic
Bonanza Gift & Souvenir Shop, established in 1980, is a Las Vegas icon proudly dubbed the "World's Largest Gift Shop." Spanning 40,000 square feet, it’s located at the corner of Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, just north of the Strip. Built during a boom in Vegas tourism, Bonanza has become a go-to for quirky souvenirs, from Elvis memorabilia to cowboy hats and snow globes.
Its vintage charm and massive inventory reflect the spirit of classic Las Vegas, making it a nostalgic stop for visitors seeking affordable keepsakes. Despite the rise of upscale shopping, Bonanza remains a beloved spot for those exploring Vegas’s vibrant history.
Las Vegas and Nevada left us spellbound with their dazzling contrasts—glamorous resorts, cutting-edge attractions, and breathtaking natural wonders. From the vibrant nightlife on the Strip to the serene beauty of Red Rock Canyon and the engineering marvel of the Hoover Dam, this trip offered a little bit of everything. But the truth is, we only scratched the surface.
